The award winning Hyundai Accent line up has been updated to feature only the top spec Accent Sport in both hatchback and sedan body styles. Replacing the previous Accent Active and lower spec Accent SR, the Accent Sport is now the top and only spec available for Hyundai’s light car offering. Gone too is the 1.4 litre MPi Kappa engine, the role now falling to the 1.6 litre GDi Gamma engine rated at a sprightly 103kW and 167Nm of torque, substantial leap up from the 74kW and 133Nm produced by the Kappa.
Transmission choices have also had revising with the previously optional CVT now omitted from the options list, the Accent Sport comes with the choice of a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic for buyers to decide upon.
A set of 16 inch eight spoke alloy wheels, premium sports steering wheel and gearknob bring a hint of athleticism to the Sport badge while comfort is improved thanks to standard cruise control with wheel mounted controls.
The new Hyundai Accent Sport comes with a minor price increase of $500 over the outgoing top spec Accent SR, making it a competitive option against rival offerings.
