It all started in 1966, Ford secured victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a feat they’d repeat three times over in as many years, that which no other manufacturer has been able to replicate in the years since. In honor of their proud racing heritage Ford will be offering a Limited Edition Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition for 2018.
Styling inspiration drawn from the 1967 winning Ford GT40 MKIV as driven by Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt sees red paint matched to white racing stripes cover the body and No. 1 graphics featuring on the bonnet and doors. Keen eyes will also notice silver mirror caps and red brake calipers housed behind 20 inch one-piece forged aluminium wheels secured with black wheel nuts.
The race inspired styling isn’t just limited to the exterior, within a new leather trim with red contrast stitching can be found on the steering wheel and carbon fiber seats complimented by red seat belts. Anodized grey paddle shifters sit in front of the dark metal finished instrument panel, the same finish extending to the door bezels and cross brace. Exposed carbon fiber door sills, air conditioning vents and center console complete the race inspired styling.
“In creating a worthy successor to the 2017 Heritage edition, we logically looked at our next historic Le Mans victory with the all-American team of Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt,” mentioned Dave Pericak, global director of Ford Performance. “The 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage edition pays homage to that win, with a modern take on one of the most important vehicles in Ford’s storied history of racing.”
Already limited to a run of just 500 globally, the Heritage Edition will have collectors keen to secure a modern rarity.
